You are going to be a part of the Sales and Marketing team of Ampleon

The Global Sales and Marketing team is spread all around the world. 

In USA, Ampleon is present in 2 different sites to support our customers’ needs: Smithfield (RI) and Dallas (TX).

The job is located in Dallas (TX), where the office/lab hosts a small customer-focused team with daily customer interactions. You will report to the Global Key Account Manager.

A look into the life of the RF Power Application Engineer at Ampleon

In this role, you will enable Ampleon to design-in highly complex RF products that help to achieve our business goals with key customers. You will be the key interface between the customers’ engineering organization and the Ampleon development and marketing teams. You will build and keep close customer relationships, enabling designs to move from design-in to design-win status. The key areas of responsibility are: 

  • Support customers to create and optimize amplifier designs to their specific applications
  • Design, simulation, and measurement of power amplifiers for wireless infrastructure
  • Develop application-specific hardware and support documentation to demonstrate and evaluate product performance to the customer
  • Evaluate and verify product performance in reference to customer requirements
  • Translate customer amplifier requirements to transistor requirements and align with the internal development team to ensure we will develop the right product for the customer
  • Create competitive awareness by performance benchmarking. Be fully aware of competitor’s technical advantages and disadvantages in order to formulate the right strategy to win
  • Develop specific application knowledge to enable a complete Ampleon solution
  • Be proactive in educating yourself about Ampleon technologies/applications either by self-development or by using Ampleon resources
  • Help organize customer support activity to deliver solutions on time and make sure actions are completed and communicated on time

Your profile

We are looking for someone who has the following background and capabilities:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with specialization in RF & Microwave design
  • Preferably 10 years RF design experience
  • Experience in designing GaN and LDMOS Doherty amplifiers for 5G base stations
  • Experience in working closely with tier one base station infrastructure companies
  • Proficient with RF simulation tools like ADS and 3D EM
  • Proficient with RF equipment and measurement techniques
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics
  • Knowledge of impedance matching for broadband power amplifiers
  • Knowledge of high efficiency amplifier concepts like Doherty
  • Knowledge of linearization techniques including digital pre-distortion
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proactive attitude and hands-on mentality
  • A team player with good communication skills
